Faculty Onboarding
For this project, I worked with a partner to create a new faculty onboarding program at Early College Academy. The audience included new or recently hired college faculty teaching in a concurrently enrolled high school. We started with a needs assessment by talking to recently hired faculty, administration, and the Faculty Teaching and Learning Center (FTLC). We then created materials, shared them with some of these same members and revised them before running the week long onboarding training. A day before the training, we were told that the school was going to remain remote, so we also had to add a section on teaching remotely. After the training, we had participants fill out a survey to gather feedback and made adjustments for the next year based on that feedback.
Introduction to Literature Podcast Assignment
Throughout the course, I used an “I do, we do, you do” scaffolding approach to teach students to apply different theoretical frameworks to understand literary texts. In this award-winning summative assessment, students worked in small groups to read and analyze plays through a series of podcasts. They wrote podcast scripts that received formative feedback from me, revised them, and then recorded their podcasts. The learners had a deeper analysis than with a traditional paper and gained important skills for working with groups.
Eight Week English Composition II Hybrid Course
I designed a full eight week hybrid English Composition II course for Aims Community College. I worked with my department head to align the course outcomes and course assignments with the traditional sixteen week course and with the instructor designing the eight week English Composition I course to make sure that the content and outcomes in my course aligned with where hers ended. After teaching the course for a few semesters, I noticed places where students were struggling, and using feedback from students, I redesigned the course into a twelve week course with more scaffolding for the assessments with which students were struggling. Assessment scores and grades improved dramatically with the redesign.
Aims Review
I work as a project manager for Aims Review, creating SOPs, job aids, and video tutorials. I train adult student editors and faculty in advertising, evaluating submissions, editing and designing the publication, updating and publishing the website, and creating a launch event. During my tenure, I have increased the submission rate by 310%, and the magazine won 2nd place at the SKD National Conference for two consecutive years (2024 & 2025).
